Since leaving Fremantle on monday 13 december, Merci has been zig zagging West in very light and fluky conditions. For the Destremau father and daughter duo, it has been a week of settling into their new life at sea. They are getting used to freeze dried food, no facilities or comforts, and for Jade, overcoming seasickness.
” Its been a steep learning curve but an eye opening week. I am excited for the future of this trip. At times I felt lonely and homesick and especially missed my twin brother” said Jade.
According to the weather forecast, it should take Merci another two weeks to reach Cape of  Good Hope. “The weather pattern is very awkward with the wind changing several times a day. We re taking this light weather opportunity to carry out some maintenance. Jade has been learning heaps and it is such a joy to have her onboard Merci” concluded her father Sébastien Destremau.
